If you are really there, God, why on earth don't you prove it?

Some preliminary thoughts on this question are in order. First, there are hundreds of pages written about this question (along with the other questions as well) so there is no way to do it complete justice within a short blog. So, hopefully what is written here will get you to thinking. If you want more info or details, just let me know.

Second, the question presupposes that God is required to prove himself to us. I do believe he has done so, but the fact that we think that God must reveal himself to us might just say something about what type of god we think he is. Along this same line of thought, I think that we want God to reveal himself to us or expect him to do so the way we desire. We put God in a box! I must ask: What kind of proof are you looking for?

Third, there are no proofs for God's existence in the same way that 2+2=4. One philosophy professor has concluded that 95% of the things believed cannot be proved conclusively. For example, I did eat breakfast yesterday morning, but I cannot prove it conclusively. Interesting thought, huh?

So now, the question: has God revealed himself? The answer is yes, but I do not presume that such a simple answer will suffice. So, I will devote a couple of other posts to explain a little more fully the answer to this question.
